New sessions of Obedience Classes begin about every 6 weeks, depending upon weather. Next session is scheduled for Thursday, May 15th. Contact our Obedience Director below for details.

Obedience and Rally classes are held in the front right or rear left parking lot of the Blue Cross/Blue Shield Building Complex off of Bluebonnet Blvd., usually on Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. All dogs are welcome.  Visitors are also welcome to observe a class in session before deciding to enroll.

Please arrive half an hour early to register and pay for first class in advance, and 15 minutes early for all classes to settle your dog. Always bring water for your dog, and materials to clean up after your dog.

Puppy Kindergarten Class

Puppy Kindergarten, 6 week course, COST = $100

  • Qualifications: puppies 4 months to 6 months in age who have completed all vaccinations.
  • Objective: Education of the owner and beginning socialization for the puppy.
  • Content: Information on basic commands, grooming, house training, veterinarian care,
    nutrition, safe toys, and socialization activities.
  • Equipment Needed: Buckle collar and 6 foot leash.

Beginners Obedience Class, 6 week course, COST = $100 (Rescue dogs with proof of adoption papers and completed shot records pay only $75 for this class.)
* You may repeat this class one time per dog at no additional charge.

  • Qualifications: Open to all dogs with proof of vaccinations. Puppy class not required to enter.
  • Objective: Introductory e ducation of the owner and dog through training and socialization.
  • Content: Basic handling techniques for the owner. Dog learns walking on a leash and commands of heel, sit, down, stay, and come.
  • Equipment Needed: Slip chain (choke) or pinch (prong) collar and 6 foot leash (leather preferred). Which collar is best for your dog can be discussed with the instructor.


Beginners Rally ,
6 week course, COST = $100
A perfect "next step" after Puppy Kindergarten or Beginners Obedience, Beginners Rally is ideal for children as well as adults wishing to continue practicing their obedience skills.  This fast-paced activity keeps everyone on their toes and moving thru a set of instructional signs that improve all obedience teams' performance. Rally stimulates both the dog’s mind as well as the owner’s, and is becoming a popular dog sport, as well as an AKC titled event. Advanced Rally training is made available with sufficient enrollment.

Higher levels of Rally training are offered pending sufficient enrollment.

Advanced Beginners Obedience Class, 6 week course, COST = $100

  • Qualifications: Open to all dogs with proof of vaccinations who have completed beginner training. Dogs and owners coming from other programs will be assessed by the instructor.
  • Objective: Continued education of the owner and dog through training and socialization.
  • Content: Further development of basics commands and handling techniques.
  • Equipment Needed: Same as Beginner Class. Other equipment as suggested by the instructor.

Novice or Show Obedience Class
6 week course.   Open to LCCOC members only.

  • Qualifications: Completion of Advanced Beginner Class and Membership in LCCOC. Dogs and owners coming from other programs will be assessed by the instructor.
  • Objective: Continued education of the owner and dog who are planning to enter competition.
  • Content: Increased emphasis on correct handling techniques by the owner and solid responses by the dog.

Equipment Needed: Additional equipment as suggested by the instructor.

Open/Utility, higher level classes, taught with sufficient interest and instructor availability, open to LCCOC members.

Summer Kids Camp, 6 week course, 5 weeks of Obedience and 1 week of Intro to Agility, COST = $75

  • Qualifications: The class is open for kids 8-14. An adult must accompany the child. No child is to be left alone. No aggressive dog may be handled by a child.  All dogs must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
  • Objective: To make kids more aware of what their dogs can do, caring for them and what they can eventually do in competition.
  • Content: Demonstrations and training in obedience, agility, rally, tracking, grooming, dog health and nutrition, breed characteristics. Relay races are the most fun of all.
  • Equipment Needed: Same as Beginner Class. Other equipment as suggested by the instructor.

Pet Therapy/Canine Good Citizen Training:  This class is held periodically, with sufficient enrollment.  Learn more about this class here.
